Biography

Dr. Nishanth Girija Kumar is a consultant nephrologist with over 8 years of experience in internal medicine and nephrology.

Dr. Kumar obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Kerala, India in 2012, after which he completed his residency training in internal medicine from 2015 to 2018 at Saint Vincent Hospital – University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA. He then pursued his fellowship training in nephrology from 2018 to 2020 at Baylor College of Medicine, USA, where he gained extensive clinical and research experience in the management of various kidney-related disorders.

Dr. Kumar has a strong track record of excellence and dedication to patient care. He is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and is a certified clinical hypertension specialist (AHSCP-CHS) by the American Society of Hypertension. Dr. Kumar’s clinical practice at ICLDC includes the management of hypertension, chronic kidney disease, glomerular diseases, end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), dialysis, kidney transplant follow-up and all other adult kidney problems.

Prior to joining ICLDC, Dr. Kumar was a consultant nephrologist at Emirates Hospital, Dubai, where he provided specialized care for patients with kidney diseases, and was also the medical director & consultant nephrologist at Merrimac Dialysis Centre, Dubai. Before moving to the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Kumar was a consultant nephrologist, and medical director at Davita Dialysis in the United States.

Dr. Kumar’s has authored several peer-reviewed articles and has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Nephrology, and the American Society of Hypertension.
