Biography
Dr. Buckley was educated at Oxford University and the Royal Free Hospital in the UK and holds degrees from Oxford, University College London and Imperial College London.
Dr. Buckley completed his PhD while working as a Research Doctor at ICLDC between 2014 and 2017. During this time his areas of interest were the interactions between gut hormones and complications of Diabetes, local causes of vitamin D deficiency and its impact on bone and cardiovascular health, genetic lipid disorders, early detection of type 1 diabetes, fatty liver disease, and the effects of diet on blood glucose control; this research was published in international journals and presented at local and international conferences.
After completing his training in 2019, he worked as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in London prior to re-joining ICLDC in 2020. He has expertise in treating Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders. At ICLDC, he divides his time between his clinical work and leading projects in the Research Department.
