Biography
London-trained Dr. Imran Ansari’s interest in the effects of diabetes on the eyes took hold early in his career, much of which he has spent in the UAE. Dr. Imran is one of our longest serving physicians, having worked at ICLDC since 2009, mostly holding clinics in Abu Dhabi for patients with diabetic retinopathy, the most common eye disease for people with diabetes. His time in the UAE has seen him develop an interest in finding the causes of eye disease in the UAE, leading to much research, including one study where he found that hereditary eye disease appears to be relatively common in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Imran is passionate about eye health in the developing world and has devoted much of his spare time in charity work, particularly in the setting up and organizing of free surgical eye camps in Pakistan for the poor.
