Biography

Dr. Baig brings eight years of experience as a Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist.
He joined Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) in December 2022.

Dr. Baig obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India in 2002. He then moved to the UK where he completed his MRCP in General Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians in March 2010 and SCE in Endocrinology & Diabetes from the Society of Endocrinology in 2014. He achieved a dual CCT in Endocrinology & Diabetes and General Internal Medicine in January 2016. In recognition of his academic and clinical commitments, he was conferred as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, UK in 2021.

Prior to joining ICLDC Dr.Baig was a Consultant in Endocrinology & Diabetes at East Lancashire Hospitals, NHS Trust, UK. He spent part of his early career at the James Cook University Hospital, UK. After several stints at other UK hospitals including the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, he went on to work at the prestigious Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital in London as a trainee in Endocrinology & Diabetes and GIM.

Some of Dr. Baig’s specialist interests are diabetes technology and managing diabetes patients on insulin pumps, flash and continuous glucose monitoring systems, complications of diabetes, endocrine conditions like osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease and thyroid disorders. He is also passionate about interventions to empower patients to better self manage diabetes..

He was the Trust Specialty Training Lead for Medicine and RCP Tutor at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust from 2019 to 2022. where he also supervised endocrinology trainees, junior doctors and allied health professionals.

Dr. Baig has had various articles published in international journals. He has also carried out research into T cell and Gene Studies in T1DM.
