Biography
Dr. Jeanny Varghese joins Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) with over seven years of experience under her belt in endocrinology, diabetes mellitus and general internal medicine (GIM). Dr. Varghese has joined ICLDC from Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom (UK), where she worked as a consultant endocrinologist. Dr. Varghese, for most of her career, was based in the UK, recently making the shift to Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Varghese obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Mangalore, India. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from Cardiff University in Wales, UK. She holds dual accreditation in Diabetes and Endocrine Medicine, as well as General Internal Medicine, from UK boards.
Dr. Varghese has worked at a several medical institutions both in her home country and abroad. She started her career as a Junior Doctor at Pushpagiri Medical College, Kerala, India. Her professional career then saw her move to the UK where she took up a post as a consultant in diabetes and endocrinology and general internal medicine at Doncaster Royal Infirmary before moving on to be a consultant in diabetes and endocrinology and GIM at York Hospitals NHS Trust.
Her areas of interest comprise adult diabetes and endocrine disorders, antenatal clinic, insulin pumps and lipids.
Over the course of her career as a physician, and as an academic, Dr. Varghese has given several presentations to peers at national, regional, and international levels. She has also delivered multiple educational sessions over the years including ward-based sessions for junior doctors on the diabetes and endocrine specialty. She was also an examiner for the GMC’s Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board.
Dr. Varghese is fluent in a variety of languages including English, Malayalam and Hindi.
