Biography
Dr. Zahid Dhakam has trained in UK in general medicine, diabetes and geriatric medicine. He practised as a consultant physician in UK for 12 years before emigrating to UAE in June 2016. Dr. Zahid has extensive experience in managing diabetes in both acute and out patient clinical settings.
His experience extends to a wide range of acute and chronic medical disorders such as hypertension, stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease across all ages but especially the elderly who have complex medical issues.
During his research he acquired a master’s degree from Cambridge University in arterial stiffness that led to peer review publications and change in UK hypertension guidelines. He went on to establish complex hypertension and cardiovascular risk clinic at his hospital.
Over time, he also established the movement disorder clinic in his hospital where he managed conditions like Parkinson’s disease, Atypical Parkinson’s disease and Restless legs syndrome.
Dr. Zahid has been an active member of teaching & training faculty in UK. He is an examiner for Royal College Membership PACES examination board as well as for the under graduate Imperial & St George’s medical schools, London. He holds an honorary senior lecturer position at Imperial College London. For his under graduate work in 2012 he was awarded Teaching Excellence award.
