Hard Battle For Place In Quarter Finals; Rain Didn’t Stop Play
Abu Dhabi
Imperial College London Diabetes Centre’s Play for Life Football 2014 finished its third night of play with eight of the sixteen teams earning a place in what promises to be a closely-fought quarter finals.
Playing through the evening’s light but constant rainfall, through to Round Four are last year’s champs ADFCA who fought off IRENA (2-0). They will be playing for a place in the semi finals against Takreer, who lost the night’s battle against ActiveLife (0-4) but slipped through on points.
ActiveLife also secured a place on points, and will go head-to-head with HAAD who beat tourney newcomers, twofour54 (4-0).
Mubadala too will come back after hitting three home against ECSSR who just couldn’t score despite some near misses (3-0). Mubadala will meet Injazat who booted 10 goals home against ICLDC (10-1).
Meanwhile, Cleveland Clinic also said goodbye, after three-time champions, SEHA netted six goals with Cleveland managing just three, all in the second half (3-6). SEHA will take on ADSC in what promises to be a good quarter final match. ADSC scraped through to Round Four after booting a last minute goal on penalty against Dolphin Energy (1-0).
Yahsat played a good game against ADS (5-0) but it wasn’t enough to earn the points they each needed for a place in Round Four. Neither team will be returning this year.
