Walk 2013 will be boosted by the participation of hundreds of Emirati families, according to organisers, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre. (ICLDC)
 
ICLDC has teamed up with Abu Dhabi's Family Development Foundation (FDF) with more than 500 mothers and children from the FDF network signed up for the annual event at the capital's Yas Marina Circuit on November 15, the day after World Diabetes Day.
 
Walk 2013 is part of Walk for Life, a key pillar in ICLDC's campaign, 'Diabetes-Knowledge-Action', under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
 
Sheikha Fatima is the Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, as well as the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.
 
Walk 2013’s programme gets underway at 2pm with an array of family activities, including fun-filled entertainment geared to encouraging lifestyle changes.
 
The entertainment includes a farmer’s market, a family soccer pitch, a kidzone and a competition with a prize draw after the walk.
