Biography

Dr. Ali Murtaza Rathore joins Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) with over 13 years of experience in endocrinology and diabetes. With a Western education under his belt, his passion lies in diabetes and endocrinology, more specifically in the realm of type 1 diabetes, insulin pumps, thyroid disease, adrenal disease, transitional care and antenatal care.

Dr. Rathore obtained his MBBS from Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan in 2004. He achieved his MRCP UK (Endocrinology and Diabetes) in 2014 and his CCT in General Medicine, Endocrinology & Diabetes in 2015. Since February 2021 he has held the coveted title of being a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London, UK.

Prior to joining ICLDC, Dr. Rathore enjoyed a varied and prestigious career in the UK. His most recent position was Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at Southend University Hospital. Here he spent eight years working in both general medicine and specializing in endocrinology and diabetes. He was a key figure in the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes. As the lead clinician he played an instrumental role in shaping its vision and guiding its day-to-day operations, with a particular focus on the training and development of junior doctors.

Dr. Rathore also worked at a variety of other well-known institutions in the UK including University College London Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

He is keen to pass his knowledge on to medics of the future and throughout his career has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, having delivered numerous teaching sessions over the years.
