What is Diabetes Education?
Diabetes education allows you to better understand your condition, health implications and outcomes (both short- and long-term) and how to manage diabetes. Our team of Diabetes Education Specialist can also help you answer important questions including:
- How do I achieve good glucose control?
- How can I maintain good glucose control?
- How do I deal with new diagnosis of diabetes?
- How can I manage my medication in an efficient manner?
- What are the different ways I can look after my body and my injection sites?
- How do I manage my time and lifestyle while maintaining my glucose control?
- When do I need referral to other specialists e.g. dietetics or other clinical interventions e.g. surgery?
Who are Diabetes Educators ?
Diabetes Educators are specialised clinical practice nurses with extensive expertise in diabetes management. They will work with you to set realistic and achievable goals and help you to reach them by providing individualized information and guidance on diabetes management, monitoring devices, insulin and medication, problem-solving strategies, coping tools for stressful situations and skills to self-manage diabetes.
Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for a long time, our educators will tailor their approach to your individual needs and preferences. You can also join our group education sessions that offer interactive learning and peer support. They will also collaborate with your health care providers to ensure that you receive the best possible care and support. Our team of diabetes educators is here to empower you to take charge of your health and well-being.
If your doctor suggests meeting with a Diabetes Educator, our team can assist you in achieving success in your health goals. Whether it involves dietary modifications, exercise routines, or even surgical interventions, if you have multiple conditions that require management or specific needs, our multidisciplinary specialists consisting of dietitians, endocrinologists and diabetologists, and Diabetes Educators are here to support you.
